Oh no! Sorry to hear that, Sunmeet! It sounds like the water content may have been too high. Using a higher fat coconut milk/cream would be our recommendation for next time! We don’t think it will fully firm up as well in the refrigerator, unfortunately.

Hi Sherri, a couple readers have reported using less sugar with success, however it may change the texture. We’d suggest scanning the comments to see what others tried. It sounds like they decreased it by about half and used honey plus more applesauce for moisture. Another idea would be using a sugar-free maple syrup such as Choc Zero, but we haven’t experimented with that. Hope that helps!

Hi Stacie, we’re so glad you enjoy the flavor! The 1/2 Tbsp is used in step 3 for sautéing the onion. Grilling too long can cause them to dry out and fall apart, but if that wasn’t the issue, you could try adding a tablespoon or so more BBQ sauce next time to see if that helps. Let us know if you’re still running into issues after that!
